Inspired by the theories of Michel Foucault the phenomenon of public transport is being examined. An at first glance objective system, an at first sight neutral service which seems for everyone available, will be looked at more closely to see how far this neutrality goes and to see if it doesn't concern a social control system and some sort of power politics. In other words; how public is the public transport? The by Pierre Cuypers, in commission of the Dutch State, designed in Old-Dutch style, Central Station of Amsterdam is the place of the action. During this examination one element returns frequently, that is the given of 'the technique'. The instrument that more and more is used for surveillance and protection. Increasingly forming the means of control. This motive also corresponds with the used 3d software, form and content coincide. In spite of technique and specifically 3d software seam to lend itself to perfect visualisation and perfect control, they are being presented here in a more genuine way. In other words not totally disposed of unevenness, damages, dust and scratches, distortion. The possible controlling through technique is literally disorganised. The controlling appears to be an Utopia. Technique that was meant to control turns out to be insufficient. The technique that was created to obtain more grip, precisely about that grip is being lost. It's eventually the tension between these which forms the essence of all the works. Another recurring element hereby concerns the ceiling. Interesting because of its literally covering / dominating. Furthermore of its relation with the long tradition of ceiling paintings. The connotation with paradise is being evoked and possible demystified. __________________________________________________________________
