The defining of blood on the basis of geographical descent has clearly a nationalistic undertone, which directly evokes associations with the 'Blood and Soil' ideology. However by literally linking the various blood bags and by explicitly choosing for open minded, international cities a contrary standpoint is taken. Also is the relation between national / local identity and commerciality being highlighted by presenting the blood bags as a product.
