A video that deals explicitly with public space and questions our daily perception and experience of this social space. The work balances between figuration and abstraction, shifts the viewers attention of the everyday. The ubiquitous technique is the protagonist as well in vision as in sound. ‘Di sotto in sù’ is a term originating from Italian Renaissance which means ‘seen from below’. It was used for ceiling paintings in which a strong illusion of space is suggested. The ceilings in this video however, were never meant to be looked at, but rather for being looked by. Besides the parallel which is made between imposing ceiling paintings and indoctrinating systems of surveillance, is this as well a view on a fascinating world that passes us by daily, of which we are often unaware. SCREENED - Festival Construction 2015: form and content. Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. September 7-12, 2015
