The admission procedure... The animation 'Waiting Room' shows a sterile uniform space in which consistently the same corporate identity has been carried through. The Dutch identity appears to be reduced to a logo, the admission procedure to an endless bureaucratic process. The world of marketing and populism turn out to be more similar than desired, turn out to coincide disturbingly well. 'Waiting Room' is part of a more extensive research into the Dutch identity. A research in which extremes are continuously conflicting with each other. Populism with realism. Tourist with asylum seeker. Consumer with civilian. Marketing with documentary. Or more specifically, the lie of boundedness, uniformity and permanence versus the reality of transparency, heterogeneity and dynamism. The in this short animation, endlessly repetitive spaces, represent both the 'consistent and coherent' corporate identity, as the simplistic vision of the populist, which form a harsh contrast to the asylum seekers individual story, to essentially everybody's uniqueness ... SCREENED - CyBorg Film Festival VII, Dolceacqua (Imperia), Jun 2013
